Sycamore Park Community Center
The San Juan County Maternal and Child Health Group, with funding from OptumHealth New Mexico, will host a Town Hall forum entitled “Empowering Effective Choices.” Teens ages 12 to 18 and their parents are invited to attend this moderated event.  The town hall will start with a cell phone survey, so participants are encouraged to bring their phones. Following the survey, Dr. Bruce G. Trigg will deliver his keynote address.

Dr. Bruce Trigg is pediatrician and retired public health physician on the faculty of the Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health Education Project (ARSHEP) of Physicians for Reproductive Choice and Health; a project sponsored by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Society for Adolescent Medicine.  He retired from the New Mexico Department of Health where he was the Medical Director of the Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) Program for Albuquerque and the northwest region of New Mexico. Dr. Trigg is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Associate Professor of Nursing at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center.

Following Dr. Trigg’s address, a local panel of educators, community members and healthcare providers will field questions from the audience.  Pizza and beverages will be served. There is no cost for admission
