Merry Christmas from Elysia:
Hi everyone! On my mom’s side of the family, we have a very special tradition that’s been going on since my Ito’s (grandparents) were raising their own kids. Every year since they were little, on the 23rd they would gather around their little table and help make tamales. It started with just the five of them, and with time and many cousins later… it now has turned into a bigger production of twenty people! This has been a part of my Christmas tradition since I was little.
The adults used to do all the work, and the kids would play and watch movies at Ita’s. Now that we are older, we are able to help make tamales and carry on our special tradition.
On Christmas Eve my family and I go to Christmas Mass, then everyone gathers again to enjoy our delicious tamales that we all worked hard on! Nevertheless, it’s a beautiful time well spent. From my family to yours, Feliz Navidad!
